In light of the Red Sox Pitchers struggles this year, the team made no moves at the trade deadline. Since the team made a statement a few days ago they would make an impact at the deadline; many were surprised the team stayed put.

Red Sox Pitchers Struggles

When the season started, there was a lot of hope for this team. Since the team had all of their players returning with the exception of Craig Kimbrel and Joe Kelly; there was a lot of hope they could repeat as champions. Be sure to check out my Boston Red Sox Win World Series post to read about last year’s exciting season.

Although both Kimbrel and Kelly have had their struggles in 2019; there is no doubt that the team needed help in the bullpen.

However, it was evident early on that this team was not playing well. Be sure to visit my Red Sox World Series Hangover 2019 post to see how they started their season.

Indeed, the team has corrected themselves and eventually achieved a 500 record. However, it is clear to Red Sox Nation; this team is not the same as last year’s 108 win team.

Red Sox Pitchers

One of the biggest struggles all season long has been with the starters. Not only is Chris Sale having a sub par year; but what is worrisome is usually his ERA goes up in August. Is he already worn down?

In addition, David Price opened up controversy recently rehashing his feud with Dennis Eckersley recently. Although this happened two years ago; Price retweeted an article with laughing emojis.

Although the team acquired Andrew Cashner from Baltimore Orioles for two prospects earlier in July; he has given up a lot of runs early on.

Clearly, the bullpen have had their struggles all season long.

In conclusion, this season’s trades are different than in the past as they don’t have the luxury of making trades up until the last month of the season.

In my opinion, this year’s team will not make the playoffs. Due to their lack of consistency all season; I think this year’s team will not make the wildcard race. Of course, I hope I’m wrong but…

As always, I welcome your comments.
