Shrimp scampi day is today. Of course, you may not have know about this delicious pasta holiday paired with shrimp. So, are you ready to prepare this dish? And, if you don’t have time; make sure you dine out at your favorite restaurant and order this for lunch or dinner.
Shrimp Scampi Day
In the first place, this pasta dish is a great meal for lunch, dinner or anytime of day. Since every day seems to be devoted to either a food, lifestyle topic or trend; why not start the day celebrating and invite some people over for some cocktails and this delicious dish?
In celebration of this day, all you need is shrimp, olive oil, butter, lemon juice, fresh garlic, white wine and your favorite pasta. To make your own garlic, be sure to check out my National Garlic Day post.
Now that you have all the ingredients on hand, it is time to start cooking.
- First – in a medium to large skillet, saute shrimp with olive oil, fresh minced garlic, ground black pepper and a pinch of sea salt. Since I tend to like a bit of heat, I add red pepper flakes.
- Now that the shrimp is ready, in a separate pan, combine butter, a splash of white wine and any other spice of your choice. Also, you may want to add a splash of lemon juice. Once you have this ready, add this to the shrimp.
- At the same time, choose your favorite pasta and boil your noodles. For some suggestions on pasta, be sure to visit my World Pasta Day post.
- Finally, once your pasta is ready, toss with the shrimp mixture in a skillet. Make sure you mix thoroughly so you can taste the flavor in every bite.
When you’re cooking, you may want to prepare some fresh garlic bread and have some fruity cocktails to serve before the “Star” of the day – shrimp scampi.
As always, I welcome your comments.
Happy National Shrimp Scampi Day!
